Building Control Committee

The Building Control Committee is a body of elected officials appointed for four years at a time, which controls and supervises building activities. The Building Control Centre and the building inspector operate under the committee.

The Building Control Committee guides the operations of the Building Control Centre by, for example, preparing a budget proposal, financial plan proposal and action plan.

Through supervisory measures, the Building Control Committee ensures that all construction activities meet the requirements placed on them in building legislation, and any decrees and provisions issued therein.

The permit applications for all construction projects exceeding 2,000 floor m2 in size are processed by the Building Control Committee. In addition to this, the committee handles supervisory and administrative matters and issues statements.
