Instructions for the “Additional information about the child” section of the form

My child needs support with learning Finnish, preparatory education

The following children may enrol for preparatory education for six-year-olds: children with an immigrant background, Finnish returnee children, children of bilingual families (not Finnish/Swedish) and adopted children who need support in the Finnish language or study skills before the transition to basic education.

Preparatory education for six-year-olds is provided in municipal, Finnish pre-primary education groups.

When completing the form, select “Support need: The child needs support in learning Finnish. I am also applying for preparatory education”.

It has been discovered that the child needs intensive or special support, statement

The support need refers to such need for support measures that has been indicated by an expert opinion. If the child has not previously attended the Espoo early childhood education services and their support need has been established, the Special Early Childhood Education Coordinator will conract you, if necessary, once you have indicated the support beed on this application.

If the child has not previously attended early childhood education services in Espoo, the expert statements must be delivered to the special kindergarten teacher in the service area: Contact Information.

We are exercising the right to a pre-primary education place in the same location as the child’s sibling.

Children enrolling for pre-primary education have the right to a pre-primary education place at
a) an early childhood education unit in their own service area, if their sibling has, at the moment of making the decision, a valid care relationship with a pre-primary education day-care centre continuing in the coming pre-primary education year, or

b) a local school determined by the city, if their sister or brother will be attending this school in the coming school year.

Parents may decide whether or not to exercise this right and whether to exercise it in accordance with a) or b) above, if the child is entitled to both.

When completing the form, select “Apllication on sibling basis: I primarily apply for a palce in the same location attended by the child*s sibling.”
