General upper secondary schools and Finnish speaking comprehensive schools

Autumn term 2019–2020 begins on Thursday 8th of August 2019 and ends on Friday 20th of December 2019.

  • Autumn holiday: Monday 14th October 10.2019 – Friday 18th October 2019
  • ​Christmas holiday: Saturday 21st of December 2019 – Monday 6th January 2020

Spring term begins on Tuesday 7th January 2020 and ends on Saturday 30th of May 2020.

  • Winter holiday: Monday 17th February 2020 – Friday 21st February 2020

Schools can change maximum one school-day into a holiday by running school on one Saturday.
Saturdays as school-days follow the timetable of the particular day, which is freed.
 

Swedish-speaking comprehensive schools

Autumn term 2019–2020 begins on Tuesday 13th of August 2019 and ends on Friday 20th of December 2019.

  • Autumn holiday: Thursday 17th October 2019 – Friday 18th October 2019
  • ​Christmas holiday: Saturday 21st of December 2019 – Monday 6th January 2020

Spring term begins on Tuesday 7th January 2020 and ends on Saturday 30th of May 2020.

  • Winter holiday: Monday 17th February 2020 – Friday 21st February 2020

Schools can change maximum one school-day into a holiday by running school on one Saturday.

Spring term begins on Thursday 7th January 2021 and ends on Saturday 5th of June 2021.

  • Winter holiday: Monday 22nd February 2021 – Friday 26st February 2021

With regard to the Finnish-speaking units, the Finnish Education and Early Education Committee will decide on the timing of school days and holidays on school year 2020-2021 at its meeting on 20 November 2019. The Swedish Education and Cultural Committee will decide on the school days and holidays in Swedish-speaking pre-primary, basic and upper secondary education on 21 November 2019.
