The Finnish Education and Early Education Committee confirmed, at its meeting on 28 October 2020, that the city’s Finnish-speaking general upper secondary schools will have an intake of 1,977 students for the school year 2021–2022.
The number of places available to new students is higher than in previous years, both in quantitative terms and in relation to the number of young people completing their basic education. In the school year 2021–2022, Espoo’s upper secondary schools will have places for 66% of the age group. This means that there will be 158 more places than in 2020.
At national level, the popularity of general upper secondary education is high in Espoo. Increasing the intake is one of the key ways of lowering the lowest grade averages for admission.
In Espoo, there are
10 Finnish-speaking general upper secondary schools
one Swedish-speaking general upper secondary school
one general upper secondary school for adults
. The joint application period for upper secondary education will take place from 23 February to 23 March 2021.
