This spring the end of the school year is celebrated together at a virtual spring ceremony. Traditional gatherings at schools have been cancelled due to the restrictions.

Spring ceremonies to be celebrated despite physical distancing

Traditional spring ceremonies at schools have been cancelled because of the restrictions. However, the end of the school year and the new graduates are still celebrated in Espoo.

The City of Espoo and Tapiola Sinfonietta arrange a joint virtual closing ceremony for all pupils. In addition, schools can arrange their own virtual spring celebrations or celebratory activities amongst pupils in the same class.

Pupils and guardians will receive more information from their schools.

The City of Espoo and Tapiola Sinfonietta arrange a joint virtual spring ceremony, which will include musical performances and speeches.

“Although we cannot gather in the same physical space to celebrate, we will be part of a communal celebration”, says teacher Tiina Raula, who has been involved in the planning of the event. “A joint ceremony is also an expression of gratitude to the schools, which have been doing an enormous amount of work for the pupils”.

The virtual spring celebration will be streamed online at 10 am on May 30 at Espoo Event and Cultural Services kotona247.fi platform and on the YouTube channel of Tapiola Sinfonietta. In addition, schools and upper secondary schools can stream the materials at their own virtual festivities.

Virtual closing ceremonies at upper secondary schools and vocational institutions

The end of the school year and the graduation of upper secondary school and vocational students require attention despite the exceptional situation. Every student deserves a celebration.

Upper secondary school students graduating this spring receive certificates, diplomas and prizes in accordance with arrangements made by their own school, and they graduate as usual. Upper secondary schools also have the opportunity to celebrate the end of the school year at the virtual ceremony in the end of May.

The city arranges a joint celebratory moment on Saturday 29 August 2020. Students will receive information from their schools.

A virtual closing ceremony is held also at Omnia. Vocational students, graduates at the general upper secondary school for adults and their near ones will be able to celebrate together virtually on 29 May 2020.
