Open day-care centres

Municipal open day-care centres are intended for children under school age and parents and other carers who take care of them at home. The activities are free of charge, with no advance registration required.

The activities are based on spending time actively together, where the parents take care of their children. The contents of the activities are formed according to wishes expressed by the parents through joint implementation. Besides spending time together and playing, the activities include, among other things, practical and art subjects, music, physical exercise and excursions.

The open day-care centre also offers to parents support from the early childhood education professionals, discussions about upbringing, the child’s development and the everyday life of families with children. The open day-care centres may offer clubs subject to a fee.
