Decision-making in the Finnish Education Unit

In Espoo, education is provided by the City of Espoo, whose highest decision-making authority is the City Council and the appointed City Board. Espoo has also 11 Committees of which the Education and Early Education Committee works with issues concerning education. However, the Premises and Housing Subcommittee decides on matters concerning school facilities.

The participation of pupils, guardians and Espoo residents is seen vital in Espoo. The theme is also embedded in the strategy of the Finnish Education Unit, called the Story of Finnish Education (pdf, 2459 Kt).
