Studying in our school

Espoo International School (EIS) is a joint comprehensive school. We constitute a uniform, international English-language comprehensive school with more than 600 pupils in grades 1–9.

Primary Education (grades 1-6)

EIS offers primary education for pupils in grades 1-6. The education follows the Finnish comprehensive school curriculum. The language of instruction is English. English-language primary education is meant for children whose mother tongue is English, who speak the language fluently due to an international background or who otherwise have obtained an adequate command of English.

Middle Years Education (grades 7-9)

The aim of the EIS middle years education in grades 7-9 - the English Stream - is to provide pupils with the skills, linguistic abilities and the means to go on to further education in English, either through the International Baccalaureate (IB) programme, the Espoo International Upper Secondary Cambridge (AICE) programme, or elsewhere. The English stream is intended for those Finns and foreigners living in Finland, whose mother tongue is English or then who have demonstrated an exceptionally high command of the English language.

EIS follows the Middle Years Programme (MYP) curriculum administered by the International Baccalaureate (IB) organization.
