Maternity clinics

The maternity clinic services are intended for expecting families. The services include individual clinic appointments and home visits, visits to the group clinic and open clinic and, in the future, also online services.
The clinics monitor the progress of the pregnancy and discuss parenthood and issues related to the health and well-being of the expecting family.

Visits to the maternity clinic are usually planned according to the needs of the client. You can contact a maternity clinic if your menstruation has stopped and you have received a positive result from a pregnancy test. You can find the contact information on the page Clinics in each area.

Child health clinics

Espoo child health clinics provide services to families with under-school-aged children residing in Espoo. Families visit the child health clinic in their residential area. The services include individual clinic appointments and home visits, visits to the group clinic and open clinic and, in the future, also online services. The clinics are not equipped to treat children with an urgent medical condition. However, you can contact a nurse by telephone for advice.

Child health clinics monitor the growth and development of children and discuss matters related to the health and well-being of the family and to parenting in general. Central topics include the family’s resources and parenting, children’s nutrition, exercise, daily rhythm, outdoor recreation, accidents, relationships, mood, domestic abuse and substance use, and the financial situation of the family.

Appointments and counselling

The maternity and child health clinics use a centralised service for appointment booking and counselling at tel. 09 8162 2800 (local network charge/mobile phone charge). The service is available on weekdays at 8:30 am–2:30 pm.

If the line is busy, you can either hold or leave a call-back request, in which case a nurse will call you back. If you are unable to answer the call-back, the nurse will try again later, three times in total. We promise that all calls to the service will be handled during the same weekday.

If necessary, you can get a longer appointment or an additional visit to the clinic. You can cancel an appointment at any time of day by leaving a message on the answering machine. You can also get counselling from a public health nurse in matters related to pregnancy, parenthood and children’s growth and development.
