Espoo has about 116 000 homes of which 42 % are in detached houses. About 56 % of the housing stock of Espoo comprises owner-occupied houses, while rental houses make up only one third. Additionally, Espoo has over 5 000 right-of-occupancy apartments. Espoo aims to construct about 2 500 new housing units per year.

  • HSL’s public transport services will switch to summer timetables on Monday 17 June. At the same time, there will be a number of route changes.
  • The HSY collection vehicles tour around every spring in Espoo, Kauniainen, Helsinki, Vantaa and Kirkkonummi. The collection vehicles accept hazardous waste, electric and electronic junk, as well as metal scrap.
  • Bus routes change in the center of Tapiola on 28 January 2013. The changes are due to construction work on a Metro feeder bus terminal. The work will continue until late 2015.

  • Finnoo Marina City is to be built in the southern part of the Finnoo district. The idea competition looked to find inspiring models of urban structure and housing for the seashore blocks and the marina. The marina will be developed into a pedestrian and cycle-friendly neighbourhood, and become an important part of the walking and cycling route spanning the southern Espoo shoreline (Rantaraitti). The plan is to make the whole of Finnoo an energy-efficient and carbon-neutral district.
