Child in early childhood education

Early childhood education is planned upbringing and teaching

Early childhood education is a part of the Finnish education system and its task is to promote children’s growth, development and learning together with the guardians. The pedagogic activities of early childhood education are based on the child’s own interests and needs. The activities include, among other things, practising linguistic skills, music, visual arts and mathematics. Children learn things through playing, moving about, exploring and expressing themselves in a diverse learning environment.

Early childhood education supports the well-being of children and creates basis for wide-ranging skills. The goal is for the children to slowly develop their ability to think, learn, get involved, have an influence, interact and take care of themselves. Early childhood education reinforces the child’s self-esteem and offers positive learning experiences.
