Studying in comprehensive school

All children and young people in Espoo under the compulsory school-age are entitled to participate in basic education provided by the municipality. Instruction is offered in grades 1–9. In comprehensive school, the pupil completes compulsory education and receives a basic education certificate and eligibility for further studies.

Comprehensive school is free of charge. The pupil receives free textbooks and other learning material chosen by the school. Textbooks are often circulated. Sports clothes and equipment are purchased by the guardians.

Education and upbringing in comprehensive school are based on the curriculum.
